Private Security Agency Regulation Act(PSARA) Registration

PSARA stands for the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act. It's a regulatory Act for all the Private Security Agencies (PSA) in India which provides security services, also consisting of security guards training. No person is allowed to start a business of security agency or provide security guard services unless registration under PSARA has been obtained.

The act covers all the significant aspects relating to private security agencies such as formation, regulation, operation, and disqualification. Therefore, it is mandatory for all the private security agencies to obtain the PSARA license for carrying out the business.

There are some specified eligibility criteria that the aspirants must fulfill to obtain the license. The eligibility criteria are as follows: 

1. Form of business must be Private Limited Company, LLP, One Person Company, Sole Proprietor, Partnership.

2. Principal officer/ director must be resident in India who is financially competent in terms of operation of the security agency and has not committed any offense under the Companies Act or convicted by the court.

3. For being registered as a security guard, a person must be an Indian resident who is aged 18 years or above but does not exceed 65 years. Further, the applicant must satisfy all requirements of physical standards, adequate security training and    must never have been terminated from government service.

Documents Required for PSARA Registration are:

  1. Certificate of Company Incorporation;
  2. Signed MOA (Memorandum of Association) with the training institute;
  3. Documents of a security guard;
  4. Identity proof of all the directors and employees; 
  5. Address proof of the registered office;
  6. An affidavit obtained under PSARA;
  7. Logo for the security agency;
  8. PAN of the promoters;
  9. Registration obtained from the service tax department;
  10. Certificate of registration under Shops & Establishment Act;
  11. ESI Registration
  12. PF (Provident Fund) Registration;
  13. Certificate obtained under the Contractual Labour Act;
  14. Affidavit of security training;
  15. Armed license;
  16. Two photographs of promoters;
  17. Character verification certificate for employees
  18. ITR copy of every director.

 The validity period of the PSARA license is for five years from the date of issuance of the license . For states of Uttarakhand and Chattisgarh, the license valid if for one year only.
